Casual Eating in Italy

So, it's a little crazy here in Italy. In such a good way. I can't believe how every meal has been incredible. In Canada, going to a new restaurant means it may or may not have good taste, texture, flavour. It may be from frozen. It might be disgusting.

So far in Italy, even the most ugly restaurants serve amazing food. Not a single bite here has been followed with regret.

Seafood risotto? Made from scratch. Pasta? Cooked perfectly al dente. Whipped cream? Actually made with cream.

What a fucking revelation! Make food with real ingredients and cook it the way it ought to be and you can't go wrong.

Why do we put preservatives in our buns? Who thought that fake cheese was a good idea? Probably people who care about the quantity of the money they make over the quality of life of their customers.

Fuck them.

Homemade Strawberry Jam & Crunchy Peanut Butter

So, I just had my first PB&J in about... 15 years?

Probably not the most exciting first blog post ever, but DAMN it was delicious. A wee bird told me to grill it in a pan with butter so it melts into a gooey fantastic dream on toasty warm bread.

Will definitely try again.

Oh yes. The key? Loads of homemade strawberry jam that tastes just like summer in the sun.
